Isaac
FREELAND was an early settler in
Forsyth County,
Georgia appearing in the 1834 tax list and every census until his death. Census data indicate that Isaac and first wife
Hannah had a passel of children. After
Hannah died he married Elizabeth KEY, daughter of William and Pacha KEY. Isaac's son William J. married Elizabeth's sister Sarah. This information is verified from records found on the
Forsyth Co Web page. From Don Shadburn's books, Isaac appears to have had run-ins with the law, but also serving on juries from the beginning of FC court. He was a property owner some say near the John's
Creek Office park and the quarry. He was a member of Sharon
Baptist Church, but had several scrapes and was excommunicated once, but was back in fellowship eventually. Because of his murder conviction, he could not be buried in church property, so he was likely buried on his property.
